The conference covered several topics including;

Tickets for the event were like gold dust but thankfully we managed to get our hands on a couple!

Here’s some highlights from the day…..

Digital Research

A Digital World

Hugh O’Byrne from the IBM gave a fascinating presentation on the Digital journey IBM is on and some of the changes the company has made to adapt to a digital world. Hugh also shared some of IBM’s research and what the company has learned along the way.

Strategy

IBMs research has found that 92% of B2B buying decisions are influenced by digital so having a good strategy in place is crucial.

When I meet customers they often say that they need a digital strategy – this is what I was saying three years ago. I was wrong, I did not need a digital strategy, I needed a strategy for a digital world!” Music to our ears!

Websites

Hugh highlighted the importance of a business’s website. The message was simple “keep it current and packed full of fresh content.”

Keeping a website up to date is one of the challenges facing lots of businesses. More and more companies are reaping the benefits outsourcing this work to content marketing agencies.

Social

It’s not easy keeping up to date with all the latest social platforms; Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest………So, carefully select what is right for your business and be sure to respect the protocols of each platform. What works on Snapchat might not work on LinkedIn!

Less than a 1/3 of SMEs Can Offer Online Sales

A hot topic right now is the latest Health Index by the IE Domain Registry (IEDR). CEO David Curtin said that whilst he was encouraged to see more SMEs with websites many of them were not taking full advantage of the digital world and were missing opportunities.

The Health Index found that less than 1/3 of SEM websites offer online sales facilities and the e-commerce market is set to grow to €14 billion over the next four years. It’s disappointing to see that much of the increased spend is expected to go abroad.

If you need want to take advantage of this growth in e-commerce give us a quick call! We generally integrate WooCommerce into the WordPress website as a shopping cart which allows you to easily manage an online store.
